Alternator and charging-system service

A weak battery does not always mean the battery is the only problem. Charging output, connections, belts, and electrical loads may all affect system performance.

Apex can test the starting and charging system and explain whether the alternator or another component needs attention.

Signs you may need this service

  • The engine cranks slowly, clicks, or intermittently will not start
  • Lights dim, electronics reset, or the battery warning light appears
  • The battery repeatedly needs a jump or loses charge

What you can check first

  • Confirm that the battery terminals look secure and free of heavy visible corrosion
  • Notice whether the problem is worse after sitting, during cold starts, or with accessories running
  • Record any warning lights and avoid repeated start attempts if cables become hot or you smell burning

Only perform checks you can complete safely. Stop driving if the vehicle feels unsafe, overheats, loses braking, or shows a critical warning.
